... if someone could guarantee me that I could remote-pilot one of those Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.  The Reaper or any kind of drone.  I think my years of honing my video game skills could finally enable me to serve my country.  As long as we don't fight Korea.  Those guys are insane at video games.

I've been back here on the East Coast trying to get a degree in Computer Science for the last 3 years.

One of these days I will be finished with this task and I will head back to the West Coast to get a job as a producer/ at least a full-time tester to get me in the door. 

For the first time yesterday I installed a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate RC on a fairly ancient Dell Dimension 2350.  The only hiccup I had installing on this below-min-spec machine was that the USB DVD drive I was using would not work on the bare machine.  I had to install XP SP 2 at minimal in order to use the disc as an upgrade, so that was how I went.  You can use an old copy of XP to do this, even one that is currently activated, as you can upgrade to SP2 without ever activating the copy of XP, so then you upgrade and XP is no longer on the system.

Before trying out Windows 7 on this crap machine I have sitting around, I had been using it to play around with Ubuntu.  Since Ubuntu's initial install can fit on a CD-ROM as opposed to a DVD, this means that I was able to install it on a doodoo machine like this without the interim XP install to get the DVD drive working. This system runs Windows 7 slightly faster than it ran that Ubuntu build, using it to simply watch movies and check out the internet.  The system could not run Vista at all.

My question is, since Windows 7 is a net-centric OS (haven't I heard that?), why isn't there a CD-ROM option for the install? I think this nice fast small OS deserves the chance to take off on all the old barely-functioning systems that still linger all over the country, that never should have upgraded to Vista. There must be a way to get the internet running and the hard drive writing and get the rest of the bits later.  I realize it's just an RC and probably a hundred blogs have been written about this already.
